Remote Management |
The Remote Management page allows you to access the router from a remote WAN network.
The SRXN3205 allows remote management though HTTPS, i.e https://<wan interface-ip>.
As well using Telnet Management you can telnet to the router and access the command line interface
(CLI) for advanced management options.
By default Remote management is enabled. To disable it select no and click
apply. |
IMPORTANT: |
When Remote Management is enabled, the router is accessible to anyone who knows its IP address.
Since a malicious WAN user can reconfigure the router and misuse it in many ways,
it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you change the Admin and Guest passwords before continuing. |
HTTPS |
To allow remote management, select the Yes option under the question
"Do you want to enable https". Selecting No will not permit management
from a remote WAN network. |
Telnet Management |
Select the Yes radio button to enable telnet management. |
Access to the device can be restricted by limiting the IP addresses
that can telnet to it. The remote user will still be required to login
to the router with the correct User Name and Password after connection
has been established. Access options are: |
Everyone: Allow access from any IP address
without restriction. |
IP Address Range: Limits access to the router
from a range of IP address. Type in the starting IP address in the From
field and the ending IP address in the To field. |
Only this PC: Limits access to
a single IP address on the LAN. |
For security, NETGEAR recommends that you restrict access
to as few external IP addresses as practical. |
