SNMP
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) lets you monitor and manage your router from an SNMP Manager. SNMP provides a remote means to monitor and control network devices, and to manage configurations, statistics collection, performance, and security. The router supports the SNMPv2c protocol version and can send traps to a specified community.
SNMPv3 users
The SNMPusers list displays the current SNMP v3 users in the system.
Name: The name of the user.
Access Type: The access privilege given to the User - RW or RO.
Security Level: The security level assigned to the user.
SNMP Configuration
This table lists the IP addresses of SNMP agents to which the router will send trap messages. The following are present in the table:
IP Address: The IP address of the SNMP manager or trap agent.
Subnet Mask: The network mask used to determine the list of allowed SNMP managers.
Port: The SNMP trap port of the IP address to which, the trap messages will be sent.
SNMP Version: The SNMP version to be used for traps.
Community: The community string to which the agentbelongs. Most agents are configured to listen for traps in the Public community.
Create New SNMP Configuration Entry
To add the IP address of an SNMP trap agent, input the following fields:
IP Address: The IP address of the SNMP agent.
Subnet Mask: The network mask used to determine the list of allowed SNMP managers. To allow any IP on the network to manage the device enter 255.255.255.0. For a specific host, enter 255.255.255.255. To allow global access, enter 0.0.0.0.
Port: The SNMP trap port to which, the trap messages will be sent.
Community: The community string to which the agentbelongs. Most agents are configured to listen for traps in the Public community.
Click on Add to create a new configuration.
Click on Edit to modify or change the selected configuration.
Select All: Select all the entries in the table.
Delete: Delete selected entries from the table.
Edit SNMPv3 User:
This page edits and saves an existing SNMPv3 user.
Username: The name of the user.
Access Type: The access privilege given to the User - RW or RO.
Security Level: The security level assigned to the user.
Authentication Algorithm: Choose an authentication algorithm from the drop down list - MD5 and SHA.
Authentication Password: The authentication password for the user.
Privacy Algorithm: Choose a privacy algorithm from the drop down list - DES or AES.
Privacy Password: The privacy password for the user.
Click Apply to save the configuration
SNMP System Info
The SNMP System Information section displays the current SNMP configuration of the router. The following MIB (Management Information Base) fields are displayed and be modified:
SysContact: The name of the contact person for this router. Examples: admin, John Doe.
SysLocation: The physical location of the router: Example: Rack #2, 4th Floor.
SysName: A name given for easy identification of the router.
