Security Fixes:
- Various security vulnerability fixes and enhancements.
Known Issues:
- When the FW is upgraded to v6.6.4.26 and the switch is rebooted, sometimes the switch does not complete the boot-up process, and the power LED remains yellow.
Workaround: Manually power down XSM4324S and XSM4324CS and then power it on again (power cycle)
- SFP+ model AXM765 does not support 10G stacking.
Workaround: Use other SFP+ models instead, including the AXM761, AXM762, or AXM763; or use a DAC cable with the AXC761 or AXC763.
Firmware Update Instructions:
Firmware version 6.6.4.7 and above enables you to mix-stack the M4300-12X12F and M4300-24X with the S3300 series of Smart Switches.
Below are special notes and restrictions when stacking these two series of switches. Note: These are the same contents as in the release notes of 6.6.4.7.
1. M4300-12X12F, M4300-24X (hereafter referred to collectively as M4300) and the S3300 series have separate 6.6.4.x images to support mixed stacking.
- Before these switches can be stacked together, each series needs to be upgraded to their respective 6.6.4.x images.
- To load the 6.6.4.x image onto a M4300 unit with firmware version older than 12.0.2.17, first you must update the M4300 to version 12.0.2.17 or newer.
- When a M4300 switch is using the 6.6.4 image, it can be brought back to M4300 family by directly downloading and activating a 12.0.0.x/12.0.2.x image.
For detailed instructions on upgrading the M4300/S3300 firmware, refer to the section on "Smart M4300/S3300 Firmware Upgrade Procedure" on 6.6.4.x firmware in the S3300 User Manual (page 356~359).
2. On the two M4300 models, a maximum of four 10G ports (any 4 of 8 available ports listed below) can be configured as stacking ports.
- M4300-24X: port 17~24
- M4300-12X12F: port 9~12 and port 21~24
3. The M4300 with the 6.6.4.x image scales down to the S3300 feature set to become part of the stacking.
- AVB is not available on the M4300, even in Standalone mode.
- All stacking functionalities of the S3300 extend to these two M4300 platforms. However, Non-Stop Forwarding (NSF) is not supported.
- CLI under console port is not supported.
- Either S3300 or M4300 can be stack master or standby.
- Service port is not supported for management or any other purpose.
4. New features for M4300 running smart 6.6.4.x image.
- SCC (Smart Control Center) can be used to discover the smart M4300 and do some basic settings; same as the S3300.
- The reset button on the front panel of the M4300 models provides 2 ways to restore the switch to default settings.
- When the reset button is pressed for 2~5 seconds, the switch simply resets and reloads its current settings;
- When the reset button is pressed for over 5 seconds, the switch is reset to factory default settings (clears the current settings and then reloads the factory default settings).
