Firmware Update Instructions:
A. Upgrade Procedure using the ProSAFE Plus Utility (Recommend)
- Download the firmware V1.6.0.9 from the NETGEAR product support website and save it on your local PC. Unzip it to the file to extract the switch firmware image GSS108E_V1.6.0.9.bin.
- Download the ProSAFE Plus Utility V2.7.7 (or later version) from http://www.netgear.com/support/product/PCU
- Decompress the ProSAFE_Plus_Utility_V2.7.7.zip (or later version).
- Install the ProSAFE Plus Utility by double-clicking the ProSAFE Plus Utility 2.7.7.exe (or later version).
- Connect your computer with Plus Utility to your GSS108E switch directly.
- Double-click the ProSAFE Plus Utility icon. The configuration home page displays a list of Web Managed (Plus) Switches on the network.
Note: If you do not see your switch in the network list, click the REFRESH button or close and launch the ProSAFE Plus Utility again. You may also need to configure your computer’s security software to allow broadcast packets to pass through (to/from) your PC’s UDP ports 63321-63324. To allow this traffic, you can create a rule in your computer’s security software, or temporarily disable the firewall, antivirus programs, or all on the computer. If you temporarily disable any security services, be sure to re-enable those services when the firmware upgrade is completed.
- Select the GSS108E switch that you want to upgrade the firmware on.
- When prompted, enter the password for the GSS108E switch in the password field. The default password is password.
- Select System > Maintenance > Firmware Upgrade. The Firmware Upgrade page displays.
- Click the BROWSE button to locate and select the firmware file GSS108E_V1.6.0.9.bin on your PC.
- Click the Apply button.
Warning: Do not interrupt the network connection or power to the switch or close the ProSAFE Plus Utility during this process. Do not disconnect any Ethernet cables or power off the switch until the process is complete.
- The upgrade process typically takes about two minutes.
- Once the new firmware is successfully loaded (onto the switch), your GSS108E will automatically reboot itself. Wait at least 1 minute for the reboot to complete.
B. The other method to update your product’s firmware, follow the instructions in your product’s user manual. To find your user manual, visit https://www.netgear.com/support/, enter your model number in the search box, and click the Documentation button on the product page.
