Known Bugs
To Safely Remove the Adapter
1. Mouse over the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray.
2. Single-click the icon. A list of removable devices appears. (If you double-click, or if using Windows 2000, a large pop-up window appears, which can also be used.)
3. Double-click the Safely Remove line with your adapter in it.
4. Pull the adapter out.
To Upgrade
1. Download using the button below to a convenient place such as your desktop. Note that this is a large file!
2. Uninstall the existing adapter software by selecting Start > Programs > NETGEAR WG111v3 Adapter > Uninstall NETGEAR WG111v3 Smart Wizard. The Install Assistant window displays. (Windows XP screens are shown however the process works similarly in other operating systems.)
3. Click Next.
4. Click Yes.
5. Click Next to complete uninstallation.
6. Click OK to finish the Install Assistant.
7. Extract the Zip file you downloaded.
8. Open the Setup Program from the extracted folder by double clicking it.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Accept to accept the license agreement.
11. Click Next to install in the default directory.
12. Click Next. A message appears while the software is installing.
13. Insert your NETGEAR WG111v3 54 Mbps wireless USB 2.0 adapter into a USB port.
14. Click Next.
15. Select the country where the computer will be used, and click Agree. Incorrect selection may cause performance problems and violate the applicable law.
16. Select NETGEAR Smart Wizard (recommended) and Click Next.
17. Select Yes to use the Smart Wizard to help with connecting to a wireless network, and click Next.
18. The Selecting a Network window appears. Highlight the Network Name you want to connect to. If the Network Name (SSID) is blank, it means that network's router is not broadcasting its SSID. If you want to connect to that network, log in to the router, or ask your network administrator for the SSID.
19. Click Next. The screen advances to Saving Profiles step. You do not have to enter a profile, but it's easier that reentering the network information.
20. Click Finish to close the installer.
21. A confirmation message shows that your computer is connected to the Internet.
22. Also the wireless configuration utility is launched. Now that the installation is finished, this is the window you will use in the future to examine available networks, etc. You may close or leave the Smart Wizard utility window open during normal operation.
