New Features / Enhancements:
- Data Volume limit: This feature allows the administrator to control the amount of Internet data consumed by the SSIDs and individual clients. This feature is mainly intended to limit the clients connected to a guest SSID from exhausting the whole data which is available for a billing cycle.
A total monthly data volume limit can be specified and can be divided into each SSIDs. Administrator can also configure the action to be taken when SSID data limit is fully exhausted.
A default volume limit can be configured for each client. When the clients exhaust their 90% limit the speed is limited to 256 Kbps.
- URL Tracking: This feature allows the administrator to track the URLs accessed by any client. This feature can be enabled per SSID. The list of up to 500 URLs are maintained. Client MAC address, hostname and the URLs accessed by it are captured. The hit count per URL also can be viewed. The information can be sorted based on URL or Client MAC address or by SSID name.
- Scheduled Reboot: This feature allows the administrator to schedule AP reboot at pre-configured day and time.
- 802.11h Announcements: This feature allows connected clients to switch to the AP’s new channel without losing any data whenever there is a channel change on AP. This feature is supported only on 5 GHz band.
- Band Steering – 5GHz preferred: This feature helps steer dual mode clients to 5GHz radio during initial association. 5GHz preferred is added as a default configuration when Band Steering is being enabled. Radio button changed to drop down with Automatic and 5GHz preferred options.
- Hybrid Management Mode: When the Access Point is managed by the NETGEAR Insight app then very few configurations can be modified using the local web-browser interface of the device. Most of these configurations are also not supported by Insight yet. With this feature the administrator can configure most of these configurations from local browser interface for the device.
- Facebook Wi-Fi Insight Support: Facebook based Captive Portal support is available through Insight application.
