Bug Fixes:

Known Issues:

  1. Need to clear browser cache to get latest UI changes.
  2. Management mode switch from Standalone to Insight and vice versa does not retain the IP and VLAN configuration.

Operational Notes:

  1. The WAC510 and WAC505 access points are supported by a single firmware image.
  2. To manually install a firmware upgrade, the AP must be set to standalone management mode.  This can be done from the Web UI.
  3. To upgrade the WAC510 AP, the minimum firmware version required is 1.2.1.6. If the AP has a firmware version below this, you must first upgrade to 1.2.1.6 and then to latest version.
  4. Download the necessary WAC505/510 firmware images from the website.
  5. Out of the box, the AP has a DHCP client running by default. The AP can learn a new IP from a DHCP server if it is already configured in the existing network.  If no DHCP server is found, the AP will continue using the default IP of 192.168.0.100.
  6. Out of the box, the AP has a DHCP server running by default.  It gives 5 IPs (192.168.0.2X) for wireless clients if no server is already running in the network. If a DHCP server is already configured in the network, the AP will stop its DHCP server automatically.
  7. Two modes of management are supported by the AP:
    1. NETGEAR Insight (Cloud Mode): the AP needs to be configured/managed by the NETGEAR Insight application. Even though the AP can be accessed through the local UI, no configuration changes are allowed. This is the default mode for a brand new AP.
    2. Standalone Mode: Can be locally configured/managed through GUI.
  8. Default SSID at Day Zero or after factory reset is NETGEARXXXXXX-SETUP (where “XXXXXX” refers to the last 3 hexadecimal characters of the AP’s MAC address).
  9. The password to connect to the default SSID is “sharedsecret”.
  10. The default IP address of the AP is 192.168.0.100.
