New Features and Enhancements:
- Added an “EDIT” button on QoS setting page to help simplify the configuration.
- Added DHCP refresh function to the bottom reset button: Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds to enable and refresh DHCP IP address. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds to change the settings back to factory default values.
- Added port priority configurable field to port status submenu.
- Changed QoS priority levels from 3 to 4 and changed the default priority to high.
Bug Fixes:
- Can’t discover device through UPnP when system name is configured with special character
- Changed UPnP device icon for S8000 to show up as a switch in Windows network infrastructure list.
- Instead of staying expanded, menu collapses after applying the new setting.
Upgrade Procedure:
Using Computer with Microsoft Windows Operating System
- Download the new firmware GS808E_V1.0.2.3.bin from NETGEAR product support Website and store it in local PC. Unzip it to get the switch firmware image.
- Connect your computer to the same network as your S8000 switch.
- Open Windows Explorer, click the Network link.
- Select “Nighthawk S8000” switch on which you want to upgrade the firmware.
- Double-click Nighthawk S8000. The login page of the management interface opens.
- Enter the switch’s password in the password field. (The default password is password.)
- Select ADVANCED SETTINGS > Firmware. The Firmware Upgrade page displays.
- Click the file browser icon to locate and select the firmware file GS808E_V1.0.2.3.bin on your PC.
- Click the UPLOAD button.
Warning: Do not interrupt the network connection while in progress. Do not disconnect the Ethernet cable or power off the unit until the process is complete.
- Once the new firmware is successfully loaded (onto the switch), your S8000 will automatically reboot itself. Wait at least 30 seconds for the reboot to complete.
Using Apple MAC Devices
- Download the new firmware GS808E_V1.0.2.3.bin from NETGEAR product support Website and store it in local PC. Unzip it to get the switch firmware image.
- Find the S8000 MAC address from the label on the bottom of S8000.
- Using an Ethernet cable, connect the S8000 to the router to which your Apple MAC is connected.
- Turn on the power to the S8000.
- Find the IP address corresponding to the MAC address of your S8000 from your router's DHCP server or attached device table.
- Access to your S8000 switch using a web browser by entering its IP address in the address bar.
- Enter the switch’s password in the password field. (The default password is password.)
- Select ADVANCED SETTINGS > Firmware.
- Click the file browser icon to locate and select the firmware file GS808E_V1.0.2.3.bin on your local desktop.
- Click the UPLOAD button.
