GS748Tv4h1 is the first hardware version of latest 48 port Gigabit smart switch with 2 combo ports and 2 dedicated Gigabit SFP ports. GS748Tv4h2 is NETGEAR's new hardware version of GS748Tv4. Compared to the first version GS748Tv4h1, below new features are added.
- EEE (IEEE802.3az)
- IPv4 Static Route.
- IPv6 ACL and QoS.
Based on previous release 5.4.1.x, SW release 5.4.2.x is maintenance release that fixed some SW issues. It can both run on GS748Tv4h1 and GS748Tv4h2. And note that EEE (IEEE802.3az) feature can only work on GS748Tv4h2.
Fixed Issues:
- Fixed the issue of switch not able to obtain IP address from some DHCP server. This particular DHCP server requires the source address from the DHCP discovery packet to be 0.0.0.0.
- Fixed the issue of stronger key (bigger than 2048 bits) can’t be downloaded to the switch.
- Fixed the issue where switch receives SNTP KISS OF DEATH from SNTP server, switch will no longer contact the SNTP server for time update.
Known Issues:
- The deny SNMP rule on management access control does not take effect.
- When EEE is configured with very low sampling-interval (like 30 sec) and cables are plugged in one after the other there is a rare chance of the box rebooting.
Installation Instructions
- Download and extract the new firmware to a convenient place such as your desktop. The filename after extracting is GS748Tv4_V5.4.2.18.stk
- Start Smartwizard Discovery Utility, (included on the CD coming with your Smart Switch). If it is not installed, do so now, before continuing.
- In Smartwizard Discovery window, click Discover to find your Smart Switch. The switch will be listed in the device list table once found. (Note: Smartwizard Discovery uses broadcast packets to find Smart Switches, which means it can only find Smart Switches in the same routing domain.)
- Highlight the Smart Switch to upgrade and click Firmware Upgrade.
- Follow the screen prompts to complete the upgrade. Smartwizard Discovery will report a successful completion at the end.
