Firmware Update Instructions:

To update your product’s firmware, follow the instructions below:

  1. GS724TPv2
    1. Existing configurations will be erased after upgrading the firmware from v1.1.1.x to v2.0.0.x. Furthermore, configuration files are not compatible between v1.x.x.x and v2.x.x.x firmware.
    2. To upgrade the firmware to v2.0.0.16 from v1.1.x.x, you must follow the following order:V1.1.1.x.rom => V1.1.50.39.rom => V2.0.0.16.img => V2.0.0.16.bix.
    3. There are three methods to upgrade the new firmware from PC to the switch
      1. HTTP
      2. TFTP
      3. SCC (Smart Control Center)
        Below are the steps to upgrade the firmware via HTTP, which is the most convenient method. For the other methods, please see the IG and User Manual.
    4. To use HTTP, go to Maintenance > Download > HTTP File Download. Suppose Current-active image is image 1 and we want to download new firmware to image 2, set File Type as Archive, Image Name as Image2, browse for the firmware file GS724TPv2_V1.1.50.39.rom on your local PC, and then click Apply button to start the firmware download.
    5. After the successful file downloading, go to Maintenance > File Management > Dual Image > Dual Image Configuration and:
      1. If the current-active image is ‘image1’, set Image Name as ‘Image2’.
      2. Select the Active Image check box.
      3. Click the Apply button.
    6. Go to Maintenance > File Management > Dual Image > Dual Image Status to double check that the Next-active image is version 1.1.50.39. If not, go back to step 5 and reconfigure the correct active image.
    7. Go to Maintenance > Reset > Device Reboot, select the check box, and then click the Apply button. The restart may take several minutes, do not power cycle or reboot the switch until the process completes.
    8. After the switch restarts, log in to the switch and go to GUI page System > Management > System Information to verify that the FW upgraded correctly.
    9. Next, repeat step 4 to download Firmware GS724TPv2_V2.0.0.16.img to switch.
    10. After upgrading to v2.0.0.16.img, click the Local Device Login link to login, as shown below. (Do not register the switch using this firmware)

    11. You must change the default password to a unique password.
    12. After login, continue to download firmware GS724TPv2_GS724TPP_V2.0.0.16.bix to switch.
    13. Go to Maintenance > Update > HTTP Firmware/File Update.
    14. Suppose Current-active image is image 1 and you want to download the new firmware to image 2:
      1. Set File Type as Software
      2. Set Image Name as Image2
      3. Click the Browse button to select firmware GS724TPv2_GS724TPP_V2.0.0.16.bix
      4. Click the APPLY button
    15. After successfully downloading the file, go to Maintenance > File Management > Dual Image > Dual Image Configuration and:
      1. Set Image Name as ‘Image2’.
      2. Select the Active Image check box.
      3. Click the Apply button.
    16. Repeat step 7 & 8.

  1. To upgrade firmware from v1.2.0.12 to v2.0.0.16, just need to follow steps in the instructions for the GS724TPv2, or follow the instructions in your product’s user manual.
