I. Overview

This describes features and bug fixes in the FWAG114 BETA Release Version 1.0.29 software added since Release Version 1.0.27.

NOTE: There is no customer support for beta firmware. Customer support will ask you to return to a tested release before helping. The beta program is described here.

Bug fixes only.

III. Modifications and Bug Fixes

  1. Bug fix: PPPoE Server disconnect issue.
  2. Bug fix: ASCII config file falied to load VPN policies correctly.
  3. Bug fix: DHCP relay does not work over VPN.
  4. Bug fix: Firewall cannot defragment out of order VPN packets.
  5. Bug fix: Email Web UI display problem when email is configured to send at 12pm.
  6. Bug fix: DHCP client disconnect issue.
  7. Fixed SNMP crash bug when accessing Wireless MIB.
  8. Added GUI to change SNMP community names.
  9. Modified DHCP relay function to support 2 external DHCP servers.
  10. Modify VPN keep alive function.

  1. Add support for static IP option in PPPoE client mode.
  2. Modify DHCP client to support the ISP provisioning of the DHCP servers.
  3. Added the VPN state machine code for keep alive requirements of EU ISPs.

  1. Added syslog messages for debugging DHCP client disconnect issue.
  2. Modified DHCP relay.
  3. Changed "giaddr" field to router LAN IP.
  4. Added DHCP relay support over VPN.
  5. Added Web UI to enable / disable SNMP.
  6. Fix wireless reboot problem in non WPA mode.
  7. Fix Streaming media issue.
  8. ASCII config file modification:
    • Add WAN_MAC and FILE_CHECKSUM to config file.
    • Web UI username / password and IKE preshared key are 3DES encrypted.
  9. Change default rule log.
  10. Allow "0.0.0.0" to be used for remote VPN gateway if the matching IKE policy is "Remote Access" type.
  11. Fix: VPN log format.
  12. Fix: Diagnostics Web UI does not allow x.x.x.255 to be pinged / trace routed.

  19. Fix: If no service is defined in ASCII config file, previously added services are not deleted.
  20. Added ASCII config file upload functionality.
  21. Fix PPTP connection problems in Austria.
  22. Fix "router status" page polling interval bug.
  23. Fix 2 router cascade, can't configure WEB UI problem.
  24. Removed VPN wizard.
  25. Added VPN wizard function in Web UI.
  26. Fixed TZO function which caused LAN / WAN PC unable to ping router or access the router's Web UI.

   Version 1.0.21

  1. The "keyword blocking" problem is solved.
  2. The "WEP/WPA" is mentioned in the "router status" page.
  3. Use the star signs as the prompt of the inputted passphrase and Radius shared secret.
  4. Modify PPTP outgoing call request parameters: bearer type > any; frame type > any.
  5. Fix PPTP connection issue when "My IP Address" is not specified.
  6. Fix static route to LAN destination problem.
  7. New "wireless WPA" feature included.
  8. Fixed Vxworks DHCP client module:
  9. If DHCP server send undefined DHCP options, the client will have exception.
  10. Fixed: DoS attack, targa3, would have LAN users fail to access Web UI.
  11. Fixed: FTP problem caused by ethhook.c for targa3 attack.
  12. Fixed: UI will show Chinese.

   Version 1.0.19

  1. New NTP implementation.
  2. VPN log issue fixed.
  3. New TZO and Oray DDNS implementation.
  4. PPTP inbound problem fixed.
  5. BPA timeout and dial-on-demand issues fixed.

IV. Reporting Bugs in Beta Software

Beta software is not supported through NETGEAR�s Customer Support group. To report a bug in the beta software, please send email to:

V. To Upgrade

Before upgrading, write down all the configuration information you changed from the defaults. You may need to reenter them later.

  1. Download using the button below to a convenient place such as your desktop.
  2. Using a browser, login to the router as admin.
  3. Under Management, click Router Upgrade.
  4. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file that you just downloaded.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. Wait for the router to reboot and the TEST LED to turn off.
  7. Turn off the power on the router.
  8. Turn on the power on the route

For problems after upgrading, write down all your configuration information before upgrading, then clear the configuration by pressing the Factory Defaults pushbutton on the rear panel for 15 seconds. Then reenter your configuration information manually.
