FS728TP Firmware Version 3.0.0.12
FS728TP Firmware Version 3.0.0.12
Published December 10, 2007
Important Note:
- Please read the upgrade and downgrade instruction carefully before upgrading to the new 3.0.0.12 firmware or downgrading from 3.0.0.12 to older firmware. Improper upgrade procedure may cause the device to become inoperable and must be replaced
Enhancements:
- New and enhanced Graphical User interface.
Limitations and Known Issues:
- Only members of default VLAN (VLAN ID of 1) can manage the switch.
- When “Limited Dynamic Lock” is enabled and the violation action is to shutdown the port, the port will only shutdown if it receives packet with MAC address that has not been learned by other secured port. If MAC address is already learned by other port with security also enabled, the packet will be discarded. There is there is no security vulnerability as packets from unsecured MAC addresses will never be forwarded.
- The GUI of ACL does not block improper address like multicast address or broadcast address.
Workaround: Please avoid entering incorrect MAC address.
- Refreshing the page (Ctrl+F5) will always bring you back to the first page, which is the System Information page.
Workaround: Please manually navigate to the desired page again.
- 3. Local Engine ID display format is inconsistent under System > SNMP > SNMPv3 > Engine ID page. For example, you enter 00:e3:ab:cd:12:56 to Local Engine ID, system won’t accept it. You enter 00e3abcd1256, it will display 00:e3:ab:cd:12:56.
Workaround: None. It will be fixed in next release code.
Upgrading
Download the link below to a PC , and unzip it to a convenient folder. This is a large file!
- To upgrade your FS728TP switch from an older version of firmware to V3.0.0.12, you would need to upgrade your device to the interim image (FS728TP-V100interim.ros) first.
- Then, perform the upgrade again from the interim image to V3.0.0.12.
- Once switch is running with version V3.0.0.12, there is no need to use the interim image again for upgrading the FW to any newer version.
The procedure for upgrading the device to the interim image is the same as the regular firmware upgrade. It can be downloaded via a TFTP server or Smartwizard Discovery utility.
- Start Smartwizard Discovery Utility, (included on the CD coming with your Smart Switch). If it is not installed, do so now, before continuing.
- In Smartwizard Discovery window, click Discover to find your Smart Switch. The switch will be listed in the device list table once found. (Note: Smartwizard Discovery uses broadcast packets to find Smart Switches, which means it can only find Smart Switches in the same routing domain.)
- Highlight the Smart Switch to upgrade and click Firmware Upgrade.
- Follow the screen prompts to complete the upgrade. Smartwizard Discovery will report a successful completion at the end.
Downgrading from V3.0.0.12 to an older version of FW
Note: It is not recommended to downgrade the firmware back to the old GUI style. If you want to downgrade firmware, please make sure the Active Image on the device is 2 and not 1. Otherwise, it will not succeed.
You can check the Active Image number in Maintenance > File Management page.
- It is imperative that you perform the downgrade twice using the same version of FW. Otherwise, the switch will be inoperable if you upgrade it again to the interim image.
