This describes enhancements and bug fixes for DG834 and DG834G Release Version 3.01.25 software. Both version 1 and version 2 are supported. The enhancements and fixes are those added since Release Version 2.10.22.

New Features Overview

  1. Added support for Trend Micro Home Network Security Services. Here's an introduction to the feature:http://www.trendmicro.com/offers/netgear This feature is not supported by NETGEAR but by Trend Micro:http://www.trendmicro.com/en/support/tmss/netgear
  2. Added support for new CD-based Setup Wizard which is invoked (only) when the Setup Wizard CD is run.
  3. The manual was updated.

Modifications and Bug Fixes

    Version 3.01.25

  1. The ADSL driver was updated to improve ADSL2+ performance, to improve power cutback operation, and to fix DSLAM interoperability issues.
  2. The firewall was updated to resolve issues and improve performance.
  3. Fixed a problem with UPnP which prevented certain applications from adding port mapping via UPnP.
  4. Added New Zealand to Wireless Country Settings pulldown menu.
  5. Fixed a problem where certain time zones were not restored from config file.
  6. Fixed a problem where a Gateway to Gateway VPN tunnel would fail if DMZ used.
  7. Fixed a problem where a LAN service could not be accessed via WAN IP.
  8. Fixed a problem where "NETGEAR *Security Alert*" emails could be sent from the router when only Scheduled Emails have been configured and no "Send E-Mail alerts immediately" boxes were checked.
  9. ADSL loss of sync events now recorded in log.

Known Issues

  1. The router GUI may not behave correctly in Mozilla Firefox Web browers.

Installation Instructions

  1. To reach the Upgrade menu, click Router Upgrade from the Maintenance section.
  2. Download and unzip the file to a convenient place such as your desktop. The unzipped file is DG834_V3.01.25.img
  3. Using a browser, login to the router (the default URL is http://192.168.0.1). The user name is admin, and the default password is password.
  4. Under Maintenance, click Router Upgrade.

  5. Click Browse and locate the file which you just unzipped: DG834_V3.01.25.img
  6. Click Upload.
  7. Wait for the upgrade progress bar to complete and final prompt to appear.

For problems after upgrading

  1. Write down all the configuration information which you preveious entered manually. These typically include information from your ISP and security settings.
  2. Clear the configuration by pressing the Factory Defaults pushbutton on the rear panel for 10 seconds, until the Test LED blinks.
  3. Reenter your configuration information manually.
